Director of the Port Governance Agency Vuk Perovic participated in the world exhibition "Dubai Expo 2020". Perovic presented the development projects of the Agency within the thematic week dedicated to waters, which lasted from March 21 to 25, 2022.
"Dubai Expo 2020" was held in the period from October 2021 to March 2022. During the nine thematic weeks, 190 participating countries presented innovations in various fields - urban and rural development, agriculture, health, travel, and others. The Republic of Serbia presented itself at the exhibition with the theme "Serbia creates ideas - Inspired by the past, we shape the future".
At the forum "Sustainable investment promotion forum", organized by the Government of Serbia and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on March 21 at the Serbian pavilion, Perovic was a participant in the session dedicated to sustainable development. On that occasion, he spoke about investment projects in the field of marinas and the Agency's activities to improve nautical tourism in Serbia. He paid special attention to the economic and social significance of the marina. According to him, marinas encourage an increase in local and total revenues from tourism. In addition, they enable the development of a multitude of commercial and service content. Speaking about the social aspect of marinas, he underlined the presentation of culture, history, architecture, and nature of Serbia to foreign tourists.
In addition to the forum on sustainable investments, Perovic spoke at the panel "Future development of water as a source of connectivity". The panel was held on March 22 at the Estonian Pavilion, at the Water Business Forum. The forum discussed innovations in terms of improving water sustainability, access to this resource in urban and rural areas, as well as the importance of port development.
He introduced the participants to the Agency's projects in the field of improving ports and port activities in Serbia. He paid special attention to the activities of the Agency for the protection of the environment on rivers. In addition, he stressed the importance of European Union policies in this area for the decarbonisation of ports.
He said that the preservation of the environment, and therefore water, is a common task of the whole society - individuals, governments, public and private stakeholders, and educational institutions.
