Representatives of the Port Governance Agency visited the Belgian port of Antwerp on 22nd of June. The study visit to Port of Antwerp was organized as a part of the international project "Daphne".
Goal of the visit was to present PCS-Port Community System software solutions, which are used in the port of Antwerp. Participants of the meetings got an opportunity to know the functioning of a system that was developed in the form of multiple applications focused on different segments of the business. By application of this system, administrative procedures are simplified, flow of goods through the port is easier, and the work of all relevant stakeholder is improved. One of the results of the Daphne project will be the development of pilot software that would achieve similar effects, which will be implemented in two ports in Serbia, Austria and Slovakia.
The Port of Antwerp is the second largest in Europe, right after the Port of Rotterdam. It extends to 12 068 hectares, and has 26 bridges, 48 docks and 86 terminals. The main building was designed by architect Zaha Hadid, and her modern look symbolizes the dynamic and innovative nature of the Antwerp port.
