The Port Governance Agency participated in the Danube Region Transport Conference, held on October 10 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vojvodina. The event was organized as part of the visit by the Federation of Danube Chambers of Commerce.
Vladimir Gak, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vojvodina, emphasized that Serbia is heavily investing in the development of road, rail, and waterway infrastructure, recognizing transport's pivotal role in economic growth. “The Danube region is one of the key areas for our economy. The trade exchange value between Serbia and the member countries of the Federation of Danube Chambers of Commerce exceeds €14 billion,” he stated.
András Rév, President of the Federation of Danube Chambers of Commerce, highlighted that the Federation brings together 16 chambers of commerce from eight Danube region countries, along with associate members from non-Danubian countries with strategic interests. “Our focus is on infrastructure development and tourism among member countries. The goal is for all member chambers to work toward advancing common interests,” Rév underscored.
During the conference, the Agency presented its development projects in the field of passenger water transport. Ksenija Hajduković, Senior Advisor, pointed out that several projects are currently underway on Serbia's rivers, including dredging for the future marina in Smederevo, constructing new international passenger terminals on the Danube, and building marinas in Veliko Gradište and Golubac.
She placed special emphasis on the “Sail Through Serbia” project, explaining that its goal is to develop nautical infrastructure, such as marinas and international passenger terminals. “Additionally, we aim to raise public awareness of the benefits of nautical tourism for the economic development of cities and municipalities along riverbanks. The project will increase the number of tourists and revenue while positioning our country as an essential nautical destination,” Hajduković concluded.
