The ceremony for the opening of the nautical season in Smederevo was held on April 30 at the international passenger terminal. The cruiser "Vivaldi" with 160 passengers was welcomed by the head of the Center for Port Operations in the Agency, Srđa Lješević, assistant minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Predrag Petrović and the mayor of Smederevo, Jovan Beč.
On this occasion, it was pointed out that the practice of opening nautical seasons will be extended to other passenger terminals in Serbia, in order to further increase their visibility. Srđa Lješević said that, following last year's results and the recovery of cruising, another good year in international passenger traffic is expected. He emphasized that the Agency, together with the Government of Serbia, is implementing the project "Sail through Serbia" with the aim of utilizing the nautical potential of our country and building the missing nautical infrastructure - marinas, passenger terminals, along with the development of liner and canal traffic.
The mayor of Smederevo said that the city has great tourist potential, and that in the coming period, he will intensify the work to put Smederevo on the tourist map of Europe. He added that good cooperation with the Agency will greatly contribute to this.
The tourists were given a traditional welcome with an appropriate program, after which they were organized to visit the Smederevo Fortress. Passengers from the cruiser "Vivaldi" were thus able to get acquainted with the history and culture of the former capital of medieval Serbia.
