Marinas - an opportunity for development of nautical tourism

Port Governance Agency has initiated the Public Procurement for the preparation of a Study for the purpose of determining the port area of marinas in Kladovo and Golubac.

The Agency, in accordance with the jurisdiction, will determine port areas for marinas, as special purpose terminals for the reception, storage and equipment of vessels and also will issue licenses to the future operators for the period of 10 years.

Along with the creation of favorable conditions for the improvement of international passenger river transport- cruising, which resulted in the opening of new passenger terminals and successful nautical seasons, the Agency will pay special attention to the development of marinas.

Recognizing the significant role that marinas have in the development of nautical tourism, the Agency will make efforts in the coming period to regulate this area for the first time in our country.

The Danube, Sava, Tisa, as well as the DTD (Danube - Tisa - Danube) network, represent a great potential for tourists who would visit Serbia by their own or rented vessels. The opportunities offered by defining and developing the network of marinas are multiple. First of all, other forms of thematic tourism, such as rural, hunting and wine, would be promoted, which would significantly increase the revenues of local governments.

Following the upward trends and good results in cruising in Serbia, the Agency's priority will be to improve the nautical economy through cooperation with relevant institutions, so that marinas become an equally important segment of nautical tourism.
