Representatives of the Port Governance Agency participated at the IX Logistics and Transport annual conference, held on November 9, 2021 in Belgrade. The conference, organized by the Serbian Logistics Association, was attended by leading logistics experts from the region and Europe.
Srđa Lješević, head of the Center for Port Operations, opened the session dedicated to ports and terminals and presented the most important information on cargo transshipment and the volume of passenger traffic on rivers in the Republic of Serbia.
Lješević pointed out that at the end of the third quarter of this year, the Agency recorded 12 million tons of transshipped cargo, which is by 13 percent more than in the same period last year.
Regarding the passenger traffic, he emphasized that this year's nautical season showed signs of improvement, bearing in mind that in 2020, due to pandemic, cruising has been suspended throughout Europe. By November 1st, international passenger terminals in Serbia recorded 478 port calls and 38,381 embarked and disembarked passengers.
He also presented the development projects of the Agency, including the construction of a bulk cargo terminal in Krnjača, expansion of capacities of the port of Sremska Mitrovica, construction and opening of new international passenger terminals on the Danube and Sava and development of marinas.
Lješević concluded that in the coming period, Agency will continue to work on improving the area of port activities and on the recovery of international water passenger traffic.
