The Director of the Port Governance Agency, Vuk Perović, met today with the Mayor of Smederevo, Jasmina Vojinović. During the meeting, they discussed the infrastructure project of the marina in Smederevo.
Perović emphasized that the Agency has initiated an investment in the dredging of the future marina in Smederevo. “In the coming period, we will allocate 50 million dinars for the cleaning of the marina’s aquatorium in Smederevo, which is a prerequisite for the construction of this nautical facility,” said Perović.
He highlighted that Smederevo is one of the locations included in the capital project "Sail through Serbia". According to him, the Agency initiated the project considering the significant nautical potential of our country.
“The comprehensiveness of the project is evident from the fact that the most important institutions in Serbia are involved in its implementation, and it is a good example of state cooperation in the development of infrastructure and nautical traffic. During the project, five marinas will be built on the Danube, new international passenger terminals, and we will develop both linear and canal traffic. I would like to remind that the construction of the first phase of the marina in Veliko Gradište has begun, and a contract has been signed for the construction of the Golubac marina. Additionally, we will build marinas in Smederevo, Sombor, and Kladovo. Our goal is to position the cities located on the banks of the Sava and Danube rivers, including Smederevo, prominently on the nautical maps of Europe and the world,” concluded Perović.
The Mayor of Smederevo emphasized that the construction of the marina has been a long-standing dream of the residents of Smederevo. "This is a project we strongly support. Today's meeting with the representatives of the Port Governance Agency included discussions about the necessary prerequisites we need to secure first, one of which is certainly the task of cleaning the marina’s aquatorium," she said.
"The close proximity to the fortress, numerous tourist, sports-recreational, and cultural activities we organize in the city are our advantages in attracting visitors who can reach Smederevo by sailing. The construction of the marina in Smederevo is a sure way to put our city on the nautical map of Europe and to better utilize all the potentials the Danube provides us," said the Mayor.
Perović and Vojinović visited the site of the future marina, which will be located near the Smederevo Fortress. They agreed that this infrastructure project will contribute to the further development of the economy and tourism in Smederevo.
