The Port Governance Agency has signed a Contract on Performing of port activities with the Public Utility Company "Zelenilo" from Novi Sad, thereby introducing a third port operator to the Novi Sad terminal.
The contract, signed for a duration of ten years, mandates the operator to invest in both port infrastructure and superstructure, as well as their maintenance.
During the contract signing, it was emphasized that the increased capacity for cruise ships in Novi Sad will facilitate a higher number of port calls and improve the results of the nautical seasons in Serbia.
"The annual growth trend in international passenger traffic in our country indicates that Serbia is an attractive destination for river cruises. Together with the Government of Serbia, we are working intensively on utilizing our numerous nautical potentials by opening new and expanding the capacities of existing terminals," representatives of the Agency highlighted.
According to the latest data from the Agency, in the first six months of this year, the international passenger terminal in Novi Sad recorded 176 port calls, which is nine percent more than the same period last year, and 24,000 passengers, marking a 16 percent increase compared to the first half of 2023.
It is expected that by the end of the nautical season, there will be ten percent more port calls and passengers in Novi Sad compared to last year, significantly aided by the third location for cruise ship reception in the city.
