The annual meeting of the Executive Committee of the European Federation of Inland Ports (EFIP) took place on October 11 in Mantova, Italy. The Port Governance Agency, as a member of the federation representing Serbia, actively participated in the meeting.
The agenda focused on developmental projects and European transport legislation. Highlights included examples of best practices, such as the Hymantovalley project, aimed at establishing a hydrogen valley in Mantova.
EFIP President Antoine Berbain commended the Mantova Port initiative and emphasized the need for inland ports to strengthen their role in Europe’s energy transition. “Hydrogen is a key factor in these efforts, which is why EFIP is organizing a series of workshops on the topic,” Berbain noted.
During an extraordinary general assembly, Gert Van Der Eecken, representing the Port of Brussels, was elected as the new EFIP Vice President.
As part of the event, participants visited the Port of Valdaro. Federation members agreed that implementing innovative projects to promote “green” energy development in ports is a vital step toward ensuring the sustainability of Europe’s inland ports.
