Port Governance Agency received two letters of intent from potential port operators to perform port activities on the international passenger terminal in Smederevo. The public call for letters of intent was published on 28th of March and on that occasion, PGA invited all interested domestic and foreign entities, and future operators to participate in this call.
Waterway passenger transport in Serbia shows the steady growth. In 2016, the number of port calls increased about 5% compared to 2015, while the number of passengers increased about 4% compared to 2015. It is estimated that last year about 85000 tourists visited Serbia by ships.
Indicators of growth in the number of passengers and port calls shows the importance and need for developing the port infrastructure in Serbia.
PGA will issue a public call for the selection of the operator on the passenger terminal in Smederevo.
In addition to the three existing passenger terminals in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Donji Milanovac, Government of the Republic of Serbia on the proposal of the PGA declared port areas in Zemun, Kladovo, and visit to Smederevo.
